Welcome to the VGS Members Area

VGS Plan for Meetings Through

the 2020 Summer Break Until September 2020

1. The remaining in-person VGS meetings are cancelled immediately.

These include:

May 7th    General Meeting

May 14th    Members Helping Members Meeting

May 21th    Breakfast Meeting

2. VGS does not meet during the summer, so our next regular General Meeting is scheduled tentatively for Thursday, September 3, 2020, contingent upon Covid-19 regulations and Hot Springs Village pandemic policies at the time. VGS will contact members via Gen Soc as soon as our fall schedule is solidified.

3. Summer Breakfast meetings are on hold until further notice; if resumed you will receive an email with date and time.

4. A mid-August VGS Board meeting will be called by the President to plan the Fall Meeting dates. Dan Boehmer has graciously agreed to present our previously scheduled May program on “Ladies of Arlington Cemetery” at our September meeting.

5. Meanwhile, please explore the HSVGS Website and look for new and existing information to aid you in your genealogical research.

6. If you have research or brick wall questions or difficulty accessing the VGS website, you can contact Barbara Pinkney at (501) 915-8446 or by email Barbara Pinkney and she will try to assist you via phone or email until we can resume our Members Helping Members sessions.

7. Due to the current extenuating public health circumstances, the Board has moved our Election of Officers to the September meeting for this year. Those elected will take office immediately.
Most of our current officers have agreed to run again, and some are changing offices to cover a few of the offices that were recently vacated. The Nominating Committee is actively putting together a Slate of Officers, so please seize this opportunity and run to join this experienced Genealogical Society governing Board.

8. Watch the May Newsletter for interesting Genealogy articles and reference links. Our Newsletter Editor has invited members to share their stories about Genealogy Research or other genealogy related stories that may interest and/or help other members. If we receive these stories, we will try to publish a Newsletter Supplement to share this information.
